Since 1995, Melbourne based band, High Pass Filter have been making music. Taking their name at random from the front panel of a vintage synthesiser, High Pass Filter have built their music on a love for Jamaican dub rhythms. An amalgm of dub bass, beats "n" brass, hip-hop turntables, krautrock synths, loops and guitar, High Pass Filter have evolved through two c.d. releases and gigs in venues ranging from cruise boats to outdoor festivals and tours throughout Australia. "High Pass Filter are righteous" (Juice Jul 97)... "this is fucked up!" (Ian Mackaye, Fugazi, Sep 97)... "subvert, invert & abolish the pub rock paradigm" (Big Issue Dec 97)... "large and mysterious" (Sunday Age Jan 98)... "world class sound" (Form Guide Jan 98)... "one of the finest albums I have heard in many a live day" Xtra NZ (Jan 98)... "One of Australia's most fascinating groups" (Real Time Feb 98) |
