STOP JABILUKA MINE is a powerful, catchy new song which addresses the issue of uranium mining at Jabiluka in Kakadu National Park, Australia.

The CD is a non-profit project. It was launched on Hiroshima Day, August 6th, 1999. The song features some of Australia's finest talent and has been both critically and popularly received and supported. Already over two thirds of Australians are opposed to the mine and this number is growing as more people begin to understand the human rights and environmental repercussions of the mine and the greed-driven process of the uranium industry. We need your vocal and active resistance and we need it now. This is NOT a propoganda exercise. It is a plea to humanity based on world-wide, independent, scientific research and is of great concern to all people. It is an issue of indigenous land rights, environmental degradation and nuclear proliferation.

All scientific advisory committees to the World Heritage Bureau expressed grave concerns about the cultural and environmental impact of uranium mining and recommended to the United Nations that the mine not proceed. However, the corporations involved (North Limited, Energy Resources Australia and investors such as the major banks and superannuation corporations) have used their corporate strength to lobby and convince the current Australian government to allow the Jabiluka mine to proceed. Construction has already begun but mining is not set to start until April 2000. If at this time the issue remains unchallenged, ERA will proceed with the mine. There are 27 more uranium mines planned in Australia. In addition, the Federal government is planning to open a radioactive waste dump in South Australia and multinational Pangea Resources Ltd is pushing plans to open an international nuclear waste dump in the arid regions of Western Australia.

Help us to manifest a peaceful and CREATIVE world.
Let us speak out as a mass for ourselves and our children's future. This is a large scale action and together we can stop not only Jabiluka mine, but all future uranium mining. The environmental implications, indigenous issues, and potential power to future military warfare are reasons too great NOT to involve as many individuals as will make a collective impact and difference. Thank you for your efforts and support. You may well be saving your own lives. THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
